Employers that invest in training and development for their incumbent workforce see increased employee engagement, retention, and productivity. Given the relatively low unemployment and lack of qualified workers seeking employment, employers are turning to training and development to address skill gaps and build their workforce from within. As indicated by a recent report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, 90% or more of the jobs created after the recession (post 2010) require some college education (or further training) beyond a high school degree. Companies cite attracting and retaining employees with these “middle skills” as a top priority. Join us as Kelly Brown Lonis, manager corporate relations, MCC Corporate College, discusses the importance of training and development and the potential return on investment as a result.
