Airshow Returns to ROC Airport in 2019 with USAF Thunderbirds

Rochester Chamber Partner member the Greater Rochester International Airport announced that the United States Air Force

Thunderbirds and their F-16 Fighting Falcons will take to the skies for a 2019 airshow Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th.

Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo said, “We are honored to have the opportunity to welcome the Thunderbirds back to Monroe County to headline another exciting airshow.  Our airshow is always a popular, family friendly event that offers fun for all ages while saluting our military’s strength and excellence. We look forward to again offering a spectacular lineup of aerial performances and unique displays for all to enjoy in the summer of 2019.”

Each year the Department of Defense receives hundreds of requests to hold airshows. ROC was selected by the Thunderbirds at the recently held International Council of Airshows (ICAS) where the team released its two-year schedule earlier today. The Thunderbirds were the featured act at the ROC airshow in 2005, 2008 and 2014. This will be the fourth time in the last fourteen years, ROC has been fortunate to host the Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds are the official air demonstration team of the United States Air Force and are stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

The last airshow held at ROC was held in 2015 and featured the United States Navy’s Blue Angels. Further details on the 2019 Airshow will be available soon at www.rocairshow.info.
