Bob Duffy Statement on New York State Budget Agreement
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy released the following statement in response to the New York State Budget agreement.
Duffy said, “We applaud the governor and legislature for coming to agreement on a budget that includes several priorities of Rochester Chamber members, specifically ride-hailing and workers’ compensation reform. Expansion of ride hailing services presents upstate consumers with more transportation choices and convenience, placing upstate cities, towns, and small businesses on par with downstate and the rest of the country. With the third highest costs in the nation, workers’ compensation reform was the top priority of the business community this budget session. While more work remains, the legislation passed is a step in the right direction. We thank the Senate for its leadership on this issue, in particular Leader Flanagan, Majority Leader DeFrancisco, Senator Akshar, Senator Amedore, Senator Funke, Senator Ortt, Senator Robach, Senator Gallivan, Senator Ranzhenhofer, and Senator Helming. We also thank Governor Cuomo and Speaker Heastie for their support. We look forward to working with the workers’ compensation Board and state leaders to fully implement the necessary changes to improve system affordability and satisfaction.”
