Bob Duffy Statement on Permanent NYS Property Tax Cap

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy issued the following statement regarding the New York State Legislature passing a permanent two percent property tax cap:

Duffy said, "Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is pleased to see a permanent two percent property tax cap become law in New York State. We thank Governor Cuomo for his leadership and legislative leaders for their work on this issue. Rochester Chamber is also grateful to its partners in the Tax Cap Coalition, a group of business organizations and chambers of commerce, for their advocacy in making a permanent property tax cap a reality. The cap has already saved New York taxpayers billions of dollars and now has the potential to save untold billions more. Failure to enact a permanent property tax cap, combined with recent federal tax policy changes, would have proved disastrous for businesses and families in New York, especially upstate. While more work needs to be done to ease regulatory and other burdens on New York businesses, this is an incredibly positive development.”
