Bob Duffy Statement on Change in Eligibility of New Yorkers for Federal Trusted Traveler Programs

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy issued the following statement in response to the federal government changing the eligibility of New York residents for certain Trusted Traveler Programs:

Duffy said, “When politics negatively impacts jobs and our economy it is time to take a step back and find a resolution. The federal government’s decision to prevent New Yorkers from applying for and renewing certain Trusted Traveler Programs puts upstate businesses at a competitive disadvantage. Canada is our region’s number one trading partner and any delays in cross-border business could have adverse consequences. The Trusted Traveler Programs are critical to our economy. On behalf of the Rochester and Finger Lakes region’s business community, I urge the federal government to reverse this decision and keep commerce flowing seamlessly and safely.”
