Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce has opened the application process for its 2019-20 Chamber Leadership Initiative: Mentoring for Business young leaders’ program, also known as CLIMB. The ten-month experiential mentorship program is designed to connect young professionals age 21-40 with business leaders across multiple sectors of the Rochester/Finger Lakes economy to facilitate perspective, collaboration, and growth. New this year, each CLIMB participant will be paired with a seasoned volunteer executive from the Rochester Chamber community for a structured two-way mentoring partnership.

Through an in-depth exploration of the local economy, participants in the CLIMB program gain insight into the opportunities and challenges of the global marketplace, forming new relationships and strategic partnerships across industries. Intimate conversations with star CEOs and executive teams share strategies that fuel success and provide actionable advice for participants on applying this knowledge within their own organizations.

Participants receive yearlong personalized leadership development training from Andrew Brady of The XLR8 Team, focusing on emotional intelligence and the internal foundation that allows great leaders to motivate and inspire. They are also joined by community and political leaders to discuss crucial issues facing the region and invited to become a part of the solution as members of the Rochester Chamber Future Leaders Advisory Council (FLAC) upon successful completion of the program.

Rochester Chamber President and CEO Bob Duffy said, “CLIMB is a strategic initiative for engaging, retaining, and developing the outstanding young talent that we have in this region. Rochester Chamber invites the business community to invest in the continued success of their organizations by allowing their most promising young leaders to take advantage of the incredible resources and insight that this program provides.”

2017-18 CLIMB class graduate and CEO of Beam Mack Sales & Service, Chelsea Conway, said, “Through the CLIMB program, I was given a more realistic gauge of my strengths and weaknesses. I was able to see how other leaders in the community handle and tackle their companies, especially in adverse circumstances, all with differing and unique styles. I have since been able to adapt my style and tried new tactics of leading and managing.”

The cost of CLIMB is $1,750 per participant for Rochester Chamber member companies and $1,950 for non-members and includes materials and attendance at all events. Limited, need-based scholarships are available. Applicants must submit a resume, letter of intent, and letter of recommendation from their employer or supervisor to Shannon.Ealy@GreaterRochesterChamber.com by July 12, 2019. All applicants will be contacted by July 31, 2019 and those selected for the program will convene on August 15, 2019 at a special “Meet Your Mentors” reception.
