Sage Rutty University Launches Summer Courses
New Classes Address Financial Planning and Investing Aspects of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Rochester, N.Y. — Traditional primary, secondary and higher-education institutions may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean the learning should stop. Sage Rutty & Co., Rochester’s oldest locally owned financial institution services firm, has added a series of special summer courses to its free financial webinar series called Sage Rutty University.
In addition to its traditional classes, the semester will feature four new courses: “Becoming a Florida Resident,” “Cyber Security and Protecting Your Assets,” “Savvy Social Security Planning” and “I Maxed Out My 401(K), Now What?”
- Becoming a Florida Resident — With no income tax, it’s easy to see why Florida and other states repeatedly rank as top places to live. In this course, Sage Rutty’s expert financial advisors will discuss how to change your residency and make your retirement dollars go further without sharing them with the state.
- Cyber Security and Protecting Your Assets — In our new and virtual world, financial fraud is more prevalent than ever before and early detection is critical. Course attendees will learn how to defend themselves from online criminals and protect their credit, identity and financial accounts.
- Savvy Social Security Planning — How do you determine when it’s the optimal time to claim Social Security benefits? In this workshop, Sage Rutty’s financial advisors will discuss spousal benefits, cost-of-living adjustments and other complexities of Social Security that can significantly impact your retirement plan
- I Maxed Out My 401(K), Now What? — You’ve hit the maximum contribution on your 401(k) and taken advantage of the full tax benefits, but you can’t afford to stop saving and fall behind for retirement. Course attendees will learn efficient tax strategies worth considering.
In light of the unique financial landscape created by the pandemic, Sage Rutty has remained committed to helping its clients understand their financial decisions and the options available to them, as it has since its inception in 1915. Sage Rutty University was founded in 2012 when Sage Rutty President Wayne F. Holly realized there was a need to extend the firm’s expertise beyond its client base to benefit all members of the Rochester region.
“Sage Rutty is thrilled to add these courses to our semester and hopes members of the public will take advantage of this opportunity to be as informed as possible about today’s economic changes and challenges,” Holly said. “We are proud to serve as a resource for our community, especially in these times, and help attendees achieve their financial goals.”
Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of class attendees and Sage Rutty staff who teach the classes, workshops will be conducted via webinar. As with in-person classes conducted in the past, classes will run approximately one hour.
All workshops are free and open to the public but require prior registration. To register for a workshop or for more information on Sage Rutty University, visit sageruttyuniversity.com.
