Seabreeze Amusement Park to Open for 142nd Season

Gates Will Open for the 2021 Season on Saturday, May 22

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (May 21, 2021) – On Saturday, May 22 at 11 a.m., Seabreeze Amusement Park will officially reopen its gates for the 142nd season. The historic Rochester attraction will again offer longtime favorites to visitors and the community, including its more than 70 rides and attractions suitable for families of all ages.

In addition to this weekend’s opening, Seabreeze is celebrating significant milestones this season. The Jack Rabbit, the fourth oldest operating rollercoaster globally, is celebrating its 101st anniversary this year, having opened in 1920. Additionally, the Carousel, handcrafted and beautifully designed in 1996 by the fifth and sixth generations of the Norris Family, turns 25 this year.

“Our 2021 opening is especially meaningful this year as families look for safe and fun ways to get outside and enjoy the summer season after a tough 2020 for all,” said Rob Norris, President of Seabreeze. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the park on this monumental year to enjoy our beloved rides, games, and attractions once again!”

Park leaders have worked diligently with local, state, and federal officials to provide families visiting this summer with a safe and memorable experience. Guests are encouraged to review the park’s safety information on the Seabreeze website prior to their visit this summer, as protocols are subject to change as the state issues new guidance.

“Seabreeze is an iconic part of our community fabric and I’m so pleased to be able to celebrate their long-awaited re-opening,” said Congressman Joe Morelle. “This is a testament to our collective efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and marks an important step in our return to normalcy. I’m proud to have helped deliver funding through the Paycheck Protection Program to support Seabreeze during their time of need and I look forward to continuing to work alongside my partners in Congress and here in Rochester to ensure our families, our businesses, and our communities emerge from this crisis stronger than ever.”

“I am so excited to be a part of announcing the reopening of Seabreeze Amusement Park for the 142nd season. We are very fortunate in Monroe County to have a wonderful recreational resource, like Seabreeze, where families and visitors can spend the day enjoying all of the attractions the park has to offer,” says Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “I want to invite all Monroe County families to come enjoy Seabreeze this summer, it offers a great opportunity to get outside and spend quality time with your loved ones.”

“The opening of Seabreeze Amusement Park is welcome news for all of Irondequoit’s families,” said Irondequoit Supervisor Dave Seeley. “It is a place where lifelong memories are made, and I’m thrilled that families will be able to safely visit this historic local business once again this summer. On behalf of the Town of Irondequoit, I look forward to another fun-packed summer at Seabreeze.”

Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy said, “Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is delighted to celebrate the 2021 opening day for our valued member and historic local treasure, Seabreeze Amusement Park. While nearly all businesses experienced hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Seabreeze, which employs so many young people and brings so much vibrancy to our community, was completely shuttered for over a year. This season will be historic not just because of the anniversaries of the Jack Rabbit and Carousel attractions, but because it represents a giant step on the path towards normalcy and economic recovery for the Greater Rochester/Finger Lakes region. Thank you to all of the local, state and federal leaders who worked to ensure that Seabreeze could reopen and operate safely once again.”

“We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of Seabreeze Amusement Park for its 142nd season,” said Don Jeffries, President & CEO, Visit Rochester. “It is extra special to celebrate today’s opening following a challenging year for the tourism industry, and our community as a whole. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Seabreeze Amusement Park and Monroe County this summer and beyond.”
