School No. 8 Receives 50 Laptops, Software from Rochester Rotary Members
Continuing Rochester Rotary’s long-standing support of Roberto Clemente School No. 8, two Rochester Rotary club members — through their organizations — are donating 50 laptop computers and software for School No. 8 students.
Fifty Dell laptops are being donated by The Shore Foundation, a nonprofit providing access to technology for low-income individuals and families, through support from the Konar Foundation. Entre Computer Services, a provider of business solutions including information systems consulting and project management, is donating Microsoft Office software. Megan Alchowiak, executive director of The Shore Foundation, and Andre Godfrey, president and CEO of Entre, are both Rochester Rotarians.
School No. 8 Principal Stephanie Thompson, students and staff were joined at the school by representatives from The Shore Foundation, Entre, Rochester Rotary and the Konar Foundation to accept the donations on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
Roberto Clemente School No. 8 has been Rochester Rotary's adopted school since 1994. Rochester Rotary supports School No. 8 students through a college scholarship program and by tutoring and reading to them, providing library books or winter clothing, and offering field trips to area businesses.
