Increased Local Need Calls for Giving $20 the Week of December 20th to The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester
The long-lasting effects of COVID-19 have left The Salvation Army to answer their greatest need ever this Christmas.
Rochester, NY (December 20, 2021) – With five days until Christmas, The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester is calling for campaign-end donations to their iconic red kettles. The organization is asking those who can to donate $20 during the week of December 20th.
Our neighbors face the threat of not being able to celebrate Christmas as the impacts of pandemic poverty continue to grow. The Salvation Army has not faltered. With 63% of Americans living paycheck to paycheck and 7.1 million behind on rent, The Salvation Army steps in to feed, house, provide support, and help ‘hope march on.’
Locally, The Salvation Army Empire State Division has provided more than 4 million meals to more than half a million neighbors across New York this year alone. “The need is as great as it has ever been,” said Major Ivan Rock, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Empire State Division. “We are asking our communities who have shown us incredible support to consider giving $20 to their local Salvation Army the week of December 20th.”
The Salvation Army’s efforts to help our most vulnerable brothers and sisters. $20 can put presents under the tree for two children and feed a family on Christmas day.
In response to the pandemic, The Salvation Army has made it easier and safer than ever to support its work this year. People can donate in several contactless ways, including:
- Visit give.salvationarmy.org/empire21 to donate from anywhere in the world
