The Salvation Army Announces “Love Beyond” Campaign Kick Off On Valentine’s Day
Year-long campaign invites others to help ease suffering and to love without discrimination
Rochester, N.Y. — As the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester kicks off its full-year campaign on February 14th, appropriately named “Love Beyond”.
The campaign mission is to invite individuals, groups and businesses to join the nonprofit in helping those who suffer. It’s also a reminder to love others beyond all else and, as their mission states, without discrimination.
“Many people think of The Salvation Army as thrift stores and kettle bell ringers, but few realize the role our organization plays in helping humanity beyond Christmas time.” said Maureen Hill, Community Relations for The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester. “Love Beyond reminds our community that volunteering and giving donations throughout the year equally helps care for those suffering in Rochester.”
With three worship/service centers, four service units, three shelters and one rehabilitation center in Monroe County, The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to provide year-round social services, including substance abuse recovery programs, after-school programs, emergency housing and more.
The Love Beyond campaign will bring awareness to these services and share how others can get involved. Love Beyond Differences and Love Beyond Loneliness are the two preliminary focus topics during the month of February. The organization encourages all to share love through acceptance, communication, selfless acts, and positive outreaches. The organization also asks for gifts of time and funds that can be dedicated to the Salvation Army service of their choice.
“We are asking people to let love drive their words and actions in this pandemic time, said Hill. “Loving beyond Christmas or Valentine’s Day is crucial to making change truly happen for our community.”
