GM announces $68 million investment in Rochester
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce was proud to join with General Motors corporate leadership on Friday, January 20, 2023 at a press conference to announce two investments they will make in GM Rochester Operations. According to GM Manufacturing Executive Director Doneen McDowell, the company will invest $12 million to build new components for the production of the sixth-generation, small-block V8 gas engine, and $56 million to produce battery-cooling lines for electric cars and products. In total, GM will be investing $68 million in Rochester.
Officials say this investment will "drive GM into a new era of mobility and manufacturing," while U.S. Senator Schumer remarked, “Rochester will be the beating heart of one of the fastest growing industries."
Greater Rochester Chamber has long advocated for this type of investment on behalf of our member GM Rochester, and we are delighted to celebrate this economic win for our region.
