Geared for Growth: Healthy Baby Network Empowers Diverse Families in Rochester
Healthy Baby Network is in our community connecting vulnerable families to essential services in Rochester’s inner city. Executive Director Sherita D. Bullock was featured on “Geared for Growth” on Wednesday, May 15th as part of Greater Rochester Chamber’s ongoing partnership with 13WHAM/Fox Rochester. Bullock shared more about the organization and its role, its community partnerships in Greater Rochester, and what upcoming opportunities and events they have to engage with the community.
The Healthy Baby Network is a non-profit organization that works with families who need support in the City of Rochester. “We focus on vulnerable families, which
most often are Black and Brown families of color, who need a comprehensive set of support systems,” Bullock explained, “We are our in the community finding people who aren’t connected to services that they need via our outreach.” Some of the programs and services that Healthy Baby Network offers include a community health worker program for mothers and fathers, free doula services to work with families on birth planning and post-partum care, and more.
Sherita also shared that they work closely with other community organizations through partnerships to help as many individuals and families as possible. “We really work with partners in the community to let them know of our programs, collaborate on activities, and to help them understand the needs of the families we work with,” Bullock explained. She said that each of the 24 individuals on the Healthy Baby Network team have their own passions and connections in the community to ensure that their work is widespread and inclusive of all backgrounds.
Healthy Baby Network has several upcoming events to help connect with more community members and provide support. “We have a diaper drive that’s coming up, we have a community baby shower coming up, we have a drive to collect clothing and household items coming up, and two opportunities to give all that out,” Sherita shared.
