Geared for Growth: Greenlight Networks Connects Small Businesses to Fast Speeds Around Greater Rochester
Greenlight Networks has experienced rapid growth across Western and Central New York over the past thirteen years and is expanding their services loved by residential users to small businesses in our region with new packages and support services. Director of Commercial Development Kevin Gorman was featured on Geared for Growth on Wednesday, May 29th as part of Greater Rochester Chamber’s ongoing partnership with 13WHAM/FOX Rochester. Gorman discussed the organization’s history, what new offerings they are providing to small businesses in Greater Rochester, and his vision for the future of the company.
Greenlight started in 2011 with just one customer and has expanded to now service over 70,000 customers.
Gorman shared that the company’s growth has been driven by their reputation for speed and service. “We have a very devoted customer base,” he explained, “Once they come to us, they really don’t leave and we’ve been very disciplined in our approach to growing.” Greenlight’s focus over the past thirteen years has been on residential markets in Greater Rochester, where they started and are headquartered, and additionally in Buffalo, Albany & the Capital Region, and Binghamton. Kevin also shared the exciting news that they will shortly be announcing their first expansion outside of New York State.
Now, capitalizing on their explosive growth over the past thirteen years, they are looking to provide the same high-quality services that have been provided to residential customers to small businesses and corporations in Greater Rochester. “For a small business, the technology needed to run that business is as critical as it is for a large enterprise,” Gorman noted, “Think about your point-of-sale system, your security cameras, your telephone system–the internet enables everything.” In order to meet the unique needs of commercial customers compared to residential customers, they have expanded their business model and support system with specific business-focused customer concierges, business-focused field technicians, and 24/7 customer support to ensure no matter what their customers’ hours are, they will be there to answer questions
Kevin shared that this segment is where they see their primary growth coming from looking to the future, in addition to expanding their service offerings to more geographic areas as well. Additionally, they are returning to their roots to focus on multi-dwelling apartment or condominium units with their expansion efforts. Expansion priorities are determined based on customer demand. “When we wear our Greenlight gear out in public, we hear a real appetite to get our services to people in the community,” Kevin shared anecdotally.
