The Arc of Monroe Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month
ROCHESTER, NY - October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and showcase supportive, inclusive employers.
Good jobs change lives, and all workers—including disabled workers—deserve the opportunity to prepare for, obtain and succeed in them. Reflecting this, “Access to Good Jobs for All” is this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM) theme.
The Arc of Monroe has a rich history of offering community and employment services to hundreds of people throughout Monroe County including over 300 in its Job Path program and over 80 at ArcWorks, The Arc’s world-class contract manufacturing facility. At our three ArcDeli locations, employees with disabilities work in the food service field by preparing food, fulfilling orders and delivering catering orders.
“It’s so important to find supportive, inclusive employers to give the people we support with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to grow their skills,” said The Arc of Monroe President and CEO Tracy Petrichick. “We hope that everyone follows their lead and considers offering people with disabilities the opportunity to work in fulfilling jobs.”
