October 7 through October 11 is National Voter Education Week
This week is National Voter Education Week and Greater Rochester Chamber is proud to help get businesses and their employees ready for the general election this fall. Major issues are on the ballot, from the most local elections all the way to the federal level. We’re celebrating National Voter Education Week this week to help voters in our community bridge the gap between registering to vote and casting their ballot, so that their voices are heard in November.
Becoming an informed and confident voter is easy. Join us in taking these actions this week to make sure you’re ready to cast your ballot this year.
- Check your voter registration: Make sure you’re registered to vote and that your registration is up to date online with New York State’s Voter Lookup tool. Enter your information to confirm your registration, and learn more about where to vote and how early voting works this year.
- Register to vote: If you’re not already registered, be sure to submit your application by Saturday, October 26, 2024. New York State allows voters to register online, by mail, or in person. If you need to update your voter registration, the same forms can be used to provide the most up-to-date information.
- Make a plan to vote: Find out if voting early, by mail, or in-person on election day works best for you. Find your polling place (it may be different for early voting), confirm that you have time off of work, and make sure you have a way to get to the polls.
- Help spread the word: Once you’ve confirmed that you’re ready to vote this year, spread the word to make sure that others in your life are also registered to vote. Share this blog post on social media, or send a link to Vote.gov’s New York Voter Registration guide.
For businesses looking to increase civic engagement among employees, Greater Rochester Chamber has created a free voter registration toolkit for local employers. Complete with sample posters, emails, and social media posts to share with your teams, this toolkit will ensure that your team is well informed of the races and their rights as employees ahead of the upcoming election. To learn more and download, please visit GreaterRochesterChamber.com/vote.
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is a nonpartisan organization. This toolkit is informational and should be reviewed by an organization’s legal department before being sent to its employees to ensure compliance with its internal policies and procedures.
