Diamond Packaging Wins GDUSA Health + Wellness Design Award™ for Hedy Cannabis Packaging

Award showcases Diamond’s inhouse design and decorating capabilities, including printing, specialty coatings.

ROCHESTER, NY – October 8, 2024 – Diamond Packaging today announced that it received a prestigious Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) Health + Wellness Design Award™ for Hedy child-resistant (CR) cannabis packaging, marking the brand's first product to utilize a folding carton design.

GDUSA’s Health + Wellness Design Awards™ competition honors graphic excellence in this fast-growing, hugely important, and high-profile arena. Health and wellness are of transcendent importance to our individual and societal well-being. As these topics increasingly dominate national discourse, graphic designers and communication experts play a crucial role in conveying vital health information effectively and inspiring positive change. Nearly 3,000 entries were submitted to the competition this year, with only the Top 10% selected as winners.

Diamond won an award in the "CBD + Cannabis" category for The Cannabist Company's Hedy Cannabis-Infused Chocolate Bar packaging.

The Cannabist Company recently launched Hedy as a "brand, as well as a bright, fun and inviting visual representation that truly reflects the uplifting edibles experience." Everything from the product to the packaging was designed with an approachable form factor that is of the highest quality and designed to provide a consistent consumer experience.

Diamond's engineering team customized its award-winning Diamond Lockbox® cannabis packaging design, which is a user friendly and compliant packaging option luxurious enough to rival that of high-end cosmetic brands.

The folding cartons were converted utilizing laminated paperboard, and offset printed with five (5) PMS Inks, in-line with UV matte coating and DiamondTouch soft touch coating.

The inner tray was offset printed with two (2) PMS Inks, in-line with UV matte coating and DiamondTouch soft touch coating. The overall soft touch coating adds an appealing tactile quality that promotes consumer interaction.

The eye-catching graphics incorporate the brand's design language, which features an outer sleeve adorned with colorful illustrations and line drawings set against a cream-colored, soft touch background. The inner tray is decorated with a bold orange color that complements the sleeve.

The result is a striking presentation that stands out in the retail cannabis environment and reinforces the upscale branding of the design.

The folding cartons were designed utilizing recyclable paperboard and manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy, in a Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) and Carbon Neutral (Scope 1 and Scope 2) facility.
