Rochester Salvation Army Kettle Donations Double On December 20th With Help From Community and Matching Donor
Local Nonprofit encourages “$20 on the 20th” to meet its 2024 Red Kettle Fundraising Goal
The Rochester Salvation Army is joining forces with an anonymous local donor to double its in-person and online kettle donations this Friday, December 20th. Volunteer ringers will stand at over 30 red kettles across Monroe County from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to make this special day a success.
This donation match falls on The Salvation Army’s “$20 On The 20th” Day, when people are encouraged to donate 20 dollars as a last-minute effort to raise funds for the local Red Kettle Campaign.
“We’re extremely grateful for this donor who’s turning every dollar into two dollars on Friday December 20th,” said Major Rick Starkey of The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester. “We’re counting on the kindness of those in our community to consider donating $20 on this day as it will go twice as far to help our neighbors in need.”
According to Major Starkey, the community’s financial support and kindness during the holidays help The Salvation Army to assist more than 10,000 local individuals throughout the year through The Salvation Army’s emergency family services, food pantry, homeless shelters, and youth programs.
As of today, the Rochester Salvation Army is about $12,000 shy of its for 2024 Red Kettle goal.
With just four days left before red kettles come to a close, every donation counts towards helping local individuals and families in the year to come. Bell ringers for the 20th (and beyond) are needed and can sign up at registertoring.com .
Red Kettles can be found at Walmart Stores, Wilmorite Malls, JCPenneys, Hobby Lobbys, Tops Friendly Markets, Trader Joes and more thru December 24th. Online donations can be made by texting Kettle to 31333 or by visiting rockettle.org . Checks can be mailed to The Salvation Army 70 Liberty Pole Way Rochester NY 14611.
