Greater Rochester Chamber releases statement on Governor Hochul’s proposed Childcare Investments
Leading up to the 2025 State of the State, Governor Kathy Hochul proposed establishing a $110 Million Child Care Construction fund. This fund would be used to build new child care facilities and repair existing sites, making this critical service more accessible in child care deserts. Governor Hochul's annual State of the State presentation holds a strategic importance in shaping the political landscape of New York for the upcoming year, serving as a catalyst for legislative discussions and decisions at both state and local levels.
Bob Duffy, President and CEO, Greater Rochester Chamber, has released the following statement:
"Investing in access to childcare is imperative to the economic success of the Finger Lakes Region and of New York State—and one of the top issues we hear from Greater Rochester Chambers members about. The reality is too many employers cannot hire fast enough and too many workers are unable to work due to a lack of available childcare openings, holding us back from achieving our economic development and workforce development goals. I want to thank Governor Hochul for her work on this critically important issue and I look forward to working with our partners to make childcare facility investments a reality."
