Strangebird Wins Gold at 2025 New York State Craft Beer Competition
Rochester, NY • March 22, 2025—Strangebird won a gold medal at the 2025 New York State Craft Beer Competition. The award ceremony took place on March 21, 2025, in Albany, New York, where breweries from New York State were awarded 96 medals in 32 beer-style categories. The New York State Craft Beer Competition is the largest state-level beer competition in the U.S—1,320 beers were entered by 207 breweries. Judging for the New York State Craft Beer Competition took place over two days from March 1 to 2025, in Rochester, New York.
Strangebird was recognized in the Belgian Other (Trappist, Strong) category for its Savoir-Vivre 10°, a Belgian Tripel. Savoir-Vivre 10° has a complex, mildly spicy flavor, with notes of clove, honey, banana, and sourdough. In the tradition of Trappist Monks, this beer is can-conditioned, providing it with robust carbonation and effervescence.
“We love Belgian beer at Strangebird and it’s icing on the cake that our Belgian Tripel won this award,” said Micah Krichinsky, Founder and Brewer at Strangebird. “It is wonderful for Savoir-Vivre 10° to be recognized at the New York State Craft Beer Competition and to bring home a gold medal to Rochester.”
Strangebird’s New York State Craft Beer Competition gold continues an awards and recognition streak for the brewery. In March 2025, USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice awarded Strangebird with the #2 Brewpub in the United States. Vinepair, included Strangebird in its list of Best Breweries in the U.S. in 2024. Rode Vogel, Strangebird’s Flanders red ale, was named one of Wine Enthusiast's Top Beers of 2024. Strangebird also recently won a bronze medal at the 2024 Great American Beer Festival competition for its Bird Light Yuzu, an American Lager, and a bronze medal at the 2024 World Beer Cup for Unfettered Soul, its Hazy Double IPA.
