Effective advocacy goes beyond letter writing and phone calls. Effective advocacy means face-to-face discussions with decision makers. It means traveling to city hall and county legislatures, to the State Capitol and to Washington, DC.
Greater Rochester Chamber is proud to lead the way regionally as the recognized Voice of Business. In collaboration with our economic development and advocacy partners, we regularly travel to local and state seats of government to bring that voice directly to law makers. Members interested in joining us in these efforts should contact Director of Advocacy, Intergovernmental Relations, and Public Policy Joe Leathersich at Joe.Leathersich@GreaterRochesterChamber.com.
Recognizing the need for a strong, streamlined, and collective voice, in 2019, Greater Rochester Chamber announced the creation of the Advocacy Coalition of Rochester Area Chambers. Comprised of chambers throughout the nine-county region, this exists to discuss legislative priorities, collaboration opportunities, and joint advocacy days. The Finger Lakes region is wonderfully diverse and, as such, calls for a nuanced approach to effective advocacy. This body fulfills that need and is instrumental in amplifying the voices of our thousands of collective members. If you are a representative of a chamber or other business organization, we encourage you to join us today.
