Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy releases statement on New York State Bail Reform
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Duffy said,
“Public safety for our community remains a great concern. Criminals who continue to commit violent crimes should not be permitted to remain at large on our streets pending trial. I applaud Governor Hochul for reexamining bail reform, and for her commitment to taking a common sense approach to remedy its flaws. This issue must transcend politics. We need to come together to develop policies that protect all of society, including those who have been victimized by violent crimes, as well as those unfairly impacted by the biases inherent in our criminal justice system. Economic advantage and race must not be factors as to whether a suspect is incarcerated, nor should criminals who terrorize our citizens and neighborhoods be permitted to roam free.”
