Start building your future talent pool today
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. If your current talent pool looks bleak, it may only get worse.
YouScience recently shared a report that studied the state of the future workforce. The article states that economies worldwide face a widening gap that is more impactful than inflation or supply chain issues. One that results in lost productivity and may lead to as much as $8.5 trillion in unrealized revenues. One that’s forecast to leave 85 million unfilled jobs by 2030.
This gap that starts in secondary school, the one between available skills and ready-to-work talent – is growing. It can be attributed to the fact that young people are not aware that many current in demand careers, even exist. Rather, young people tend to revert to careers and opportunities they are already familiar with. While aptitude tests and career interest survey are helpful, access to explore a variety of available career paths and options is critically important. The good news is there is something you can do today to start building your future talent pipeline and close the gap.
Last week we shared one local company that is taking steps to expose young people to a career in data analytics. While creating a boot camp may be out of the scope of what’s feasible for your company, there are other things you can do help expose high school students to career paths in your industry.
