ROCHESTER, NY - The Arc Foundation of Monroe has been awarded two significant grants in support of “Aging With Grace, Aging In Place” campaign. The Foundation received $50,000 from Waldron Rise Foundation and $25,000 from Charles J. and Burton S. August Family Foundation.

The Aging with Grace, Aging in Place initiative will allow The Arc to construct two, 7-bedroom ranch-style homes on a 1.5-acre property on Long Pond Road in Greece, offering a higher quality of life and independence to 14 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) supported by The Arc of Monroe.

The agency will officially break ground in September.

The Waldron Rise Foundation supports non-profits who improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of children and adults based in Monroe County and Onondaga County in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, and the Charles J. and Burton S. August Family Foundation offers grants to health and human services agencies in the Greater Rochester, NY area.

“The Aging With Grace, Aging In Place project has risen to the top of our priority list because of the expressed desires and needs of the people we support – they are the central purpose guiding all we do,” said The Arc of Monroe President and CEO Tracy Petrichick. “The generosity of these foundations gives us the opportunity to move 14 of our residents into new, fully accessible ranch-style homes, that will broaden their range of choices and options. Those who were previously limited in their daily living by mobility challenges, will move safely and easily in their new forever home. We are extremely grateful.”
