Rochester Congressional Delegation Secures Major Funding Award for RochesterWorks

date
March 25, 2024

RochesterWorks is thrilled to announce that our proposal to relocate our primary one-stop career center to the MCC Downtown Campus recently reached a major milestone with the inclusion of $1.6 million for the project in the recent Congressional Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2024. While we still have more work to do to secure final financing for the project, this award gives the project a great deal of momentum. We are grateful to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Rep. Joe Morelle, for their work to champion this project and to ensure funding was included in the final spending agreementThis was the largest award provided to a Monroe County organization!

This moves us closer to our vision of marrying the heart of our community’s workforce development system with our largest and most important workforce training provider at MCC. In addition to being in the same building as MCC, it is our intention at RochesterWorks to invite other workforce organizations to co-locate at the new career center, as well those agencies who provide invaluable supportive services to those looking to enter the labor force.

RochesterWorks is funded through the Federal Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and we commend Senator SchumerSenator Gillibrand, and Rep. Morelle for recognizing the important role that local workforce boards play in our community.
