Annual Gala Celebrates Everyday Heroes and Supports Local Cancer Community

 

The Cancer Support Community (CSC) at Gilda’s Club Rochester is thrilled to announce the Heroes Ball 2024, the annual fundraising gala that brings together community spirit and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the fight against cancer. This inspiring evening will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the DoubleTree By Hilton Rochester, located at 1111 Jefferson Road, Rochester.

The Heroes Ball 2024 promises an uplifting celebration, showcasing the compassion and generosity of everyday community heroes who are helping those affected by cancer live their best lives. The event will honor seven distinguished individuals for their exceptional efforts in "eclipsing cancer" through their work in oncology, patient care, volunteerism, community outreach, and as beacons of inspiration.

Event Schedule:

  • 6:00-7:00 pm: Cocktail Reception
  • 7:00-7:45 pm: Dinner
  • 7:45-9:00 pm: Award Presentations and Live Auction
  • 9:00-11:00 pm: Afterparty with the Atlas Band

Honorees:

  • Aram Hezel, MD, UR Medicine/Wilmot Cancer Institute – Hero Award for outstanding personal involvement in the cancer arena.
  • Jeffrey Haynes, MD, Rochester Regional Health/Lipson Cancer Institute – Jacob Gitelman Award for meritorious service by a medical professional.
  • Latinos Unidos Contra Cáncer, Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester – Community Impact Award for exceptional leadership and philanthropy.
  • Alan “Brother Wease” & Doreen Levin, The Wease Show/Radio 95.1FM – Christie Simonetti Award for their caring spirit. This award is named after Christie Simonetti, an inspirational young girl who battled Leukemia.
  • Chris Keyes, St. John Fisher University and Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Associate Board Co-Chair – President’s Award for leadership, inspiration, and work on behalf of cancer patients.
  • Conor McKenna, First American Equipment Finance and Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Associate Board Co-Chair – President’s Award for leadership, inspiration, and work on behalf of cancer patients.

Why Attend:
All proceeds from the Heroes Ball will stay in Rochester to benefit local cancer patients, survivors, and their families. The funds will ensure access to no-cost emotional support, healthy lifestyle activities, social connections, education, and referral services provided with compassion and expertise at Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester.
