Greater Rochester Chamber participates in 2024 NYS Business Council DC Fly-In
Last week, Greater Rochester Chamber took our advocacy efforts to the federal level in Washington, D.C. President & CEO Bob Duffy and Chief of Staff Marc Cohen traveled to the nation’s capital as part of the NYS Business Council’s annual DC Fly-In advocacy day to bring Greater Rochester’s voice of business to leaders in Congress.
This year’s fly-in focused on topics important to New York State employers including AI, energy, CHIPS, immigration, and workforce development. Duffy and Cohen participated in meetings and discussions with legislators and policymakers with additional representatives from across NYS, including those from The Business Council, the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, the Business Council of Westchester, and the Capital Region Chamber.
During this action-packed two-day event, our team met with Representative Mike Lawler (NY-17), Representative Brandon Williams (NY-22), Representative Joe Morelle (NY-25), and Representative Marc Molinaro (NY-19). Additionally, changemakers and experts from the US Economic Development Administration, the US Chamber of Commerce, and CBS News shared their insights on the policy agenda. Discussions concerned public safety, power needs, energy innovation, and the political landscape.
Additionally, Bob Duffy met with Senator Chuck Schumer to discuss Greater Rochester Chamber’s key priorities to advance our region, including leveraging our Federal Tech Hub designation to promote economic growth and workforce development, as Greater Rochester Chamber is the regional lead for talent strategy as part of the ROC2025 alliance.
